Michael Fowler

Michael Fowler joined KETK in October 2021, just a few months after graduating college. As a digital journalist, he helps cover politics, crime and entertainment.

Michael grew up in the heart of Dallas, Texas and attended UME Preparatory Academy, where he was one of the first to help establish a school newspaper and theatre program. Outside of high school, he was actively involved in his Boy Scout troop and eventually obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.

He has always had a passion for creative-oriented projects, which led him to the University of North Texas where he majored in Media Arts. There, he learned all of the ins and outs of film and television production, directing and producing multiple short films, as well as working as a photographer for NTTV, the university’s student-led broadcast station. His experience there helped spark a new passion for news and journalism.

In addition to his involvement in the Radio, TV and Film program, he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Interfraternity Council, where he served as VP of Public Relations and Apparrel Chairman. Michael graduated from UNT a year early in August 2021 with a B.A. in Media Arts.

He has always had a passion for writing and storytelling, which is why he is absolutely thrilled to produce stories for the communities of East Texas. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, taking photographs and watching movies.
