THINK PINK: Despite gains in research, Black women 40% more likely to die from breast cancer

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — There’s a good story to tell for some about the advancements in breast cancer treatment over the last 40 years.

According to the American Cancer Society, since 1989 breast cancer deaths dropped by 40%.

It’s meant more woman are living longer after diagnosis and treatment, but that’s not the case for African-American women.
