SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Smith County Animal Control & Shelter has officially joined KETK for Clear the Shelters 2023!

With the goal of reducing the number of strays in their community, the Smith County Animal Control and Shelter works daily to help the animals that can’t help themselves.

They help reduce the number of strays “through proactive education and programs designed to prevent the creation and dumping of unwanted pets, prevent the spread of rabies through vaccination enforcement and other control.”

Smith County Animal Control & Shelter offers $10 Microchipping with Registration! It’s a small chip coded with an ID # each number is registered to both the pet and the owner’s information. This helps locate a lost pet’s owner!

The shelter is highly active on social media, continuously posting photos and descriptions of the animals in their care. They have more than 20,000 followers on Facebook and counting.
