MINEOLA, Texas (KETK) – KETK is visited Mineola on Wednesday during Small Town Live.
They have a nature preserve that encompasses 3,000 acres near the Sabine River.
Officials also said they are looking forward to hosting their annual Veterans Parade on Nov. 12.
Mineola has nightlife, restaurants and live music in the area. They also have the longest continuously running theatre in Texas, and they were designated as a National Register Historic District.
One of the well-known businesses in Mineola is The Pecan House Country Store.
“We have lots of fresh new crop pecans. That’s what we’re pushing right now because those are brand new coming in,” said Pam Franklin, who works at company.
She said they are getting their pecans from Georgia this year because that’s where the best product is. Franklin also said it takes about 10 years before you can harvest from a pecan tree.
We couldn’t make the trip to Mineola without stopping at the East Texas Burger Co.
The owner said they have different kinds of burgers and items on the menu like chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken.
Everything is made from scratch and they use fresh meat daily. They have hand made buns, onion rings, fresh-cut fries and more.
