HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A suspect was arrested in East Texas after allegedly fleeing the scene on Sunday where two people were hit with a car, one person was cut with a knife and a camper was lit on fire.
“The caller stated two people had been assaulted with a vehicle, one person had a laceration from a knife, and a camper had been intentionally set on fire,” officials said.
Officials responded to the scene on PR 3454 around 2 a.m. and arrested Jeffrey Wade Berry after a caller identified him as a suspect.
After Berry’s arrest, officials said they were able to provide medical assistance to three people and extinguish the fire in the camper. Two people were taken by ground to a Longview hospital and another was taken by air to a Tyler hospital.
Investigators responded to the scene and officials said after multiple interviews and with assistance from the Harrison County Fire Marshal’s Office, Berry was charged with two counts of aggravated assault family violence with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault family violence causing bodily injury and arson.
Officials said two of the victims have been released from the hospital and the third is reportedly in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
