UPDATE (2:15 P.M.) – The victims involved in Friday’s incident at Lucky’s were identified as Martha Hageon, 48, and Lufkin Police Officer Gerardo Salinas, 29. The suspect was identified as Hageon’s son, Alejandro Sanabria, 26. All of the involved parties were from Lufkin.

Hageon remains in extremely critical condition, and Salinas is still hospitalized and is being monitored for a lung injury, according to Lufkin Police officials.

Sanabria was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a deadly weapon against a public servant and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set for $6 million.

“We would like to take a moment to thank the bystanders and Lucky’s store clerks for their quick action in coming to the aid of Mrs. Hageon and Officer Salinas,” City of Lufkin Communications Director Jessica Pebsworth said. “Add to that list our brothers and sisters at Lufkin Fire Department for their quick response and continued support.”

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – A son allegedly attacked his mother and was accused of stabbing a police officer with what Lufkin officials call a ‘large’ knife at a Lucky’s convenience store.

Officers responded to a welfare concern on Friday around 10:30 p.m. at 1707 N. John Redditt Dr. When the officers entered the store, the son allegedly attacked his mother critically injuring her. As the officers tried to stop the attack, the son allegedly ended up stabbing one of the officers in the side.

The woman and the officer were both taken to a local hospital.

The woman is in critical condition and her prognosis is unknown. The officer is in serious but stable condition.

The suspect was taken into custody and his charges are pending.

According to preliminary release, more information will be released at a later time.
