TITUS COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – The Titus County Sheriff’s Office arrested a fugitive on Sept. 24 for numerous charges.
Matthew Hunter Colville was wanted for several felony warrants including aggravated assault on a peace officer out of Denton and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in Titus County. Titus County authorities said they became aware of him shortly after he moved onto a property on the 400 block of CR 1925. When authorities searched the residence, they allegedly found marijuana and 32 firearms while Colville, a convicted felon, was prohibited from having those weapons.
Deputies found Colville on Sept. 15 at a store in Lamar County and boxed in his truck with their vehicles, they said.
“When the deputies attempted to apprehend Colville, he used his truck to ram into several patrol vehicles, ultimately extricated his own truck from the parking lot after which Lamar County officers began to pursue Colville south on U.S. 271,” authorities said in a release.
Colville reportedly continued into Titus County and went to his residence on CR 1925 where he exited his truck, got on an ATV and drove into a mix of woods and pasture north of his residence. Authorities were unable to find Colville or the ATV after extensive searching and reportedly learned he had a pistol on him when he fled from Lamar County deputies.
When Titus County authorities got a search warrant and searched his property, they reportedly found marijuana, several firearms and an unregistered fully automatic machine gun “that was loaded and at the ready.” Additional felony arrest warrants were issued for Colville at that time.
As the investigation continued, the Titus County Sheriff’s Office called on the U.S. Marshal Service to help apprehend Colville. Authorities said they discovered “one or more” people aided Colville while he tried to escape arrest and they are investigating those people as well.
The U.S. Marshal Service found Colville in Holdenville, Oklahoma and apprehended him without any major incident.
