A cellphone left at the scene of a homicide helped lead to the arrest of a Longview man in connection with a 2015 shooting death.
Detectives matched fingerprints on the phone with those of Aaron Undria McCoy, 24, according to a complaint that led to a warrant for McCoy’s arrest.
McCoy was arrested Tuesday, and is being held in the Gregg County Jail on a charge of murder in connection with the Jan. 28, 2015, shooting death of Garrett “G” Dawn Neal. His bond is set at $100,000.
The complaint shows McCoy told another inmate details about shooting Neal when he was previously in the Gregg County Jail. That inmate then told investigators what McCoy had said and that McCoy told him another man was involved in the shooting.
