RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – One woman is dead after a pedestrian crash in Rusk County on Thursday evening.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2000 Lincoln Town Car was traveling north on Highway 42 about one mile north of New London around 7:47 p.m. DPS said that the woman was in the middle of Highway 42 and was struck by the vehicle.

Alicen Blanchard Akin, 30, of Overton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Rusk County Office of Emergency Management, multiple responders reported to the scene.
