CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Three people, who have since been identified, were arrested Tuesday night in Cherokee County after two people reported to have been held hostage.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson, two people arrived at the Wells Police Department, and said they had been held hostage at gunpoint in their home.

Alice Hayes, 30, and Wesley Wallace, 38, were arrested for aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon, and Chad Campbell, 42, was arrested on outstanding felony warrants from another agency.

“It was further reported that Wallace and Hayes terrorized the victims throughout the night with firearms and knives,” the sheriff’s office said in a release. “The victims were able to flee from the location when Wallace and Hayes fell asleep.”

After the two reported the incident to police, Wells PD then contacted the sheriff’s office, and Dickson said they began investigating and issued three arrest warrants before going to the scene on Greenville Street with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

Dickson said the SWAT team was called to the scene since the three were known to have guns, and allegedly threatened to use them against law enforcement if they came to the home.

According to the sheriff’s office, numerous items of evidence were collected after the SWAT team executed a search warrant at the home.

The three were arrested without incident, and Dickson said the case is currently under investigation and additional charges are expected
