A video from Broadway Square Mall in Tyler showing a tense confrontation in a store has spread like wildfire across social media.

The video was recorded by Maddie Carter and Faith Hamilton and has been retweeted almost 1,000 times and has close to 4,000 likes.

The incident after their male friend Jalen Hollie was forced out of the dressing room in Altar’d State at Broadway Square Mall.

They say they were talking with a store associate about the issue when the women in the video started a confrontation with them.

Kelsey Smith, one of the women you see in the video tells us they overheard Carter, Hamilton, and Hollie talking about them. And that is when they say the conversation exploded.

“Initially, we weren’t recording because we thought maybe they were going to say a few things and then we would just leave, but it continued and so we were like, you’re not going to talk to us like this and we’re going to have some sort of evidence,” Carter and Hamilton said.

“We wanted them to know that you can’t talk to people like this, like strangers, you can’t just go up and talk to strangers. It has consequences.”

Hollie posted the video to his Twitter account just after the incident happened on Monday night. He also later tweeted at the Altar’d State official account asking if they had a response.

When the video began to gain ground on social media, the blowback was enough to make one of the girls in the video delete her Twitter account.

Smith, however, says the encounter could have been easily avoided.

“He was laughing and staring at us which made us feel uncomfortable and I feel like this situation shouldn’t have gone this far,” said Smith. “It should have just been he got out of the dressing room and you know, it should have just ended at that.”

KETK News spoke to Altar’d State headquarters and they tell said they don’t currently have a policy regarding men in the dressing room area.

But they say the dispute at the Tyler location will make them take it under consideration in the future.

Many on social media commented that it is common to wait in the area for spouses or friends to finish dressing or to offer advice on how an outfit looks.
