Almost 20,000 emails were released by Wikileaks, showing the DNC skewed the primary election to favor Hillary Clinton and undermine Bernie Sanders.
A Smith County Democratic Party spokesman says he’s not surprised.
“The staff supported Hillary, and anybody who watched the primary knew that, it’s not news,” says David Henderson.
But it does break party rules.
“What that does for the party is it doesn’t allow the best candidate to rise to the top,” says KETK political analyst Dr. James Newsom.
We asked East Texans their thoughts on the Wikileaks dump.
“I mean they kinda sided towards one person you know what I mean? I don’t know it kind of looks bad on Hillary’s part.”
“I think it’s unfair but I think both democrats and republicans do it to be honest.”
“I’m just not real fond of the entire process of election this time.”
Others say they think the Clinton campaign had a hand in it.
“I don’t think Hillary’s got a chance.”
“I think she’s a dishonest person who needs to be convicted for all the crimes she’s committed and be put in jail.”
“She has a problem with credibility,” says Dr. Newsom.
But ultimately henderson does not think sanders will stop supporting Clinton.
“The option is pretty bleak,” says Henderson. “I don’t think that he’s going to do anything to enhance the possibility of Donald Trump.”
