Each year Henderson ISD recognizes some of their distinguished alumni. This year entrepreneur Grady Ash showed his support for his alma mater with an incredible donation.
Ash met with 19 Henderson High School seniors and was so impressed with them he gave each of them $100. But he didn’t stop there.
He wanted them to reach their potential and have the chance to go to college, so he donated $100,000 to each of the 19 students, totaling almost $2M.
“The money came to the HISD Education Foundation,” Stacey Johnson said. “Upon their application to college and once they receive their classes for their freshman year, they’ll present that documentation to me and they’ll get their first installment sent right to the college of their choice.”
Johnson says Ash told her to tell the students about the scholarship early in hopes that it might encourage them to apply to college.
