UPDATE (9:30 p.m.) — A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection to a fatal Longview shooting that happened around 2:43 p.m. Thursday on Arthur Street.

John Lee Smith of Longview was arrested and booked into the Gregg County Jail and charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond has been set at a combined $300,000.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, Phillip Hudson, 31, from Longview, with what appeared to be multiple wounds, police said. He died from his injuries at the hospital, officials said.


UPDATE — One person is dead after a shooting in Longview on Arthur Street, officials said.

Officer Brandon Thornton told KETK that the person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where they succumbed to them.

LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) — The Longview Police Department is on the scene of a shooting that happened in the 100 block of Arthur Street on Thursday.

Officer Brandon Thornton said the scene is active as of 3:20 p.m. Thursday.
