TYLER, Texas (KETK) – A Tyler native won a worldwide competition for designing a cereal box you can live in.
When Trey Dillon joined the Airbnb OMG! competition, he decided to think outside of the box. He submitted a rendering of a two-story, 25-foot cereal box.
“Everyone has a favorite cereal and that seems like a pretty iconic opportunity to try to capitalize on and create for,” Dillon said.
The home will be decked out in bright colors, with a floor that looks like spilled milk and furniture that looks like cereal bowls. It will sit on a two-acre property in New Harmony, roughly 20 minutes outside of Tyler.
“We wanted to create experiences that were outside the box and Trey came back to us with a literal box of cereal, so pretty unique,” said Matt McNama, spokesperson for Airbnb.
Dillon was among 100 winners around the world who get $100,000 to use toward building their Airbnb. He chose New Harmony, which is a short drive from Downtown Tyler, to bring his creation to life.
‘You’re only 15 minutes from town but you’ll see beautiful piney woods, that’s all you’ll see and then this hopefully colorful, iconic cereal box,” Dillon said.
He’s keeping some details a secret for the final reveal, but there will be plenty of space for cereal boxes and milk.
The Airbnb will be on the market by August. For those interested in staying, you can sign up for the waitlist online.
