Rusk County officials searching for evidence from weekend shooting that left 1 in custody, 5 injured

UPDATE — One person has been arrested and five others injured after shooting at Durango’s Canyon in Rusk County over the weekend.

Hundreds gathered at an event was called “Rude Boyz Annual Trail Ride.” After gunfire erupted, people were seen leaving the scene which led to several wrecks.

Five people were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. One man was arrested for carrying a firearm without a license, but police don’t believe he was involved in the actual shooting.

“In that 30 or 45 minute period right there they probably had six or seven I’m not talking about fender benders I’m talking about having to tow the car off wrecks, with injuries,” said Rusk County Sheriff Jeff Price.

The property is 120 acres and has made searching for more evidence difficult for law enforcement. Officials ask anyone with information to contact the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.


RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – One person is in custody after an overnight shooting at a large gathering near Mt. Enterprise injured four people.

According to Rusk County Deputy Emergency Coordinator Patrick Dooley, the incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning during the Rude Boyz Annual Trail Ride at Durango’s Canyon in the 1039 block of FM 1798.

“At about 12:30 a.m.,” said Dooley, “an individual started shooting, sending people running. We don’t have a motive yet. Four people were shot, and one suffered a medical emergency after being shot.”

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office and Henderson Police Department are investigating.
