Friends, family honor Bullard student at memorial service

BULLARD, Texas (KETK) – Bullard High School is mourning the loss of one of their own following a car accident.

Friends and family gathered on Thursday to celebrate the life of Emma Sikes. Flowers, mementos, and pictures filled the front of the church as two of her classmates spoke about her sweet smile and hard-working attitude.

“She was someone who looked out for others and had a pure heart. She was the most attentive and thoughtful person I knew. Not only was she beauty but she was so extremely smart, kind, and truly a pure person,” said Karlie Lowe, a fellow classmate.

According to the Bullard Police Department, the accident happened on Friday on Highway 69 in front of Whataburger around 12:30 p.m.

Emma passed away Saturday morning as a result from the crash, According to the school district. Bullard ISD stated they will be providing counselors to students and staff.

She was a sophomore, a member of the band, high school Key, Spanish club, and showed pigs as an active member in the FFA chapter.

A Facebook page has been set up for Emma and her family to help pay for funeral and medical costs. A post shows students gathering on Saturday morning to mourn the loss of their fellow classmate.

The Bullard FFA posted to social media Friday asking for prayers for their students involved in a crash.

The Bullard Band reported a second student, Anthony, was involved in the crash. As of Monday, his condition has improved.

“UPDATE on Anthony: having a much better day today. He has eaten, received some blood and walked. Keep encouraging him!” was written on their Facebook page.
