TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Early voting starts Oct. 24 in Texas and is slated to go on until Nov. 4.

Election Day is Nov. 8, but any eligible voter in Texas may vote early if they choose to do so.

Hours for early voting may vary from county to county, but can only happen between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. All early voting locations and hours will be posted to the Secretary of State’s website two days before early voting.

Officials in East Texas said turnout at the polls for day one was been great.

Smith County has six polling locations. Election Officials saw almost 4,900 people cast their ballots on day one. A poll worker said, “We weren’t sure what to expect. We were hopeful, but just not sure, so the turn out so far is exciting.”
