Wednesday Evening Weather Update: 6/1/16


A cloudy & wet start to our Wednesday in East Texas, but the afternoon featured sunshine and relatively dry weather for most of us.

We are in for more rounds of rain and thunderstorms through Saturday for most of us. The rain will be heavy at times, causing some flooding problems. We’re forecasting an additional 2-5 inches for East Texas. Please remain weather aware.

A pattern change for next week as warmer weather and drier conditions will likely prevail for most of the first “full” week of June.


TONIGHT:  Isolated showers and thunderstorms this evening. More expected to develop overnight and by morning. Low temperatures 65-70. Winds: ESE 5 mph.

THURSDAY:  Showers and thunderstorms increasing again (overall coverage reaching about 90%).  Some storms will contain frequent lightning and very heavy rainfall which can cause flooding of some streets, creeks, rivers and other low lying areas.   High temperature near 78….Winds mostly SE 5-10 mph, but variable and gusty near thunderstorms.

THURSDAY NIGHT: More rain and thunderstorms for us. Locally heavy rainfall possible. Low: 68.

FRIDAY:  More periods of rain and thunderstorms (70%).  Little sunshine possible. High 78…Winds South, becoming North 10 mph.

SATURDAY:  Area showers and a few storms, rain chance at 70%. Otherwise cloudy and feeling cooler. Low 66,  High 76…Winds NE 10 mph.

SUNDAY:  Morning fog, then partly sunny and becoming warmer. Only a 20% chance of rain for southern areas. Temperatures:  Low 66,  High 84….Winds N 10 mph.

MONDAY, TUESDAY, & WEDNESDAY:  Mostly sunny with a continued warming trend…Lows in the lower to middle 60s….Highs in the middle to upper 80s…Winds N 5 mph on Monday, NE 5 mph on Tuesday, and SE 5 mph on Wednesday.
